Calcitic Lime 1L
R64.00 Incl
Source of Calcium
- Neutralizes pH in soil
- Lime also encourages the growth of micro-organisms that contribute to plant health.
- Calcitic lime works effectively, even with one treatment.
- Calcitic lime works more quickly than dolomite lime: Calcium carbonate is better at balancing the pH of soils than magnesium carbonate, and calcitic lime contains much higher levels of calcium carbonate than dolomite lime.
How to use:
Soil Mix: To increase the pH by 1 unit
e.g. If you have an acidic soil mix (50% peat moss & 50% vermiculite) and you need to increase your pH from 4.5pH – 5.5pH
- 30L of growing medium: Add 2 tablespoons (30ml).
- Per 1L of growing medium: Add 1/5 teaspoon (1ml).
To Change the Soil’s pH/Applying in Beds:
- Calcitic lime increases the pH of soil, making it more alkaline. Determine how much is needed, dependent on the current pH of your soil, and spread calcitic lime on top layer of soil.
- Per 1m³ of soil apply 1500g / 4.4 cups (1100ml) of calcitic lime to raise the pH by 1
1L (approx. 1.4kg)

Calcitic Lime
When applied to the soil, Calcitic Lime increases levels of calcium. This organic amendment creates a more alkaline soil mixture as well as buffering against acidic nutrient mixes, increasing crop yields and improving overall soil health. In addition to neutralizing pH, lime also encourages the growth of micro-organisms that contribute to plant health.
- In addition to neutralizing pH, lime also encourages the growth of micro-organisms that contribute to plant health. With the combination of helpful micro-organisms and pH balanced soil, plants and crops will thrive.
