Description
Super Lemon Haze – Organic Terpenes
What are Terpenes?
Terpenes are organic hydrocarbons found in the essential oils of plants; they are what enhance your “high” from cannabis and they possess numerous medical benefits. The essential oils revolution has brought with it scientific research and awareness of the medical benefits of terpenes and aromatherapy.
Two plants could have similar cannabinoid structures, but completely different terpene structures that result in two vastly differing experiences. Examples:
Sativa Terpenes Are Stimulating
Sativas, for instance, typically smell bright and have strong citrus notes. The citrus smell comes from the terpene limonene, which is found in lemons. Limonene is responsible for the uplifted feeling typically found in sativa-dominant strains.
Indica Terpenes Are Soothing
Terpenes associated with Indica strains are alpha and beta pinene, which are found in pine trees. Pinene has great anti-inflammatory properties, which helps with the pain-relieving aspects of cannabis. Linalool is also predominant in Indica strains and we can thank this floral terpene for the sedative effect in lavender.
Why Use Terpenes or this product?
There are myriad and diverse uses for terpenes in isolated forms as well as in complex blends. High-quality and/or food-grade terpenes can be added to a variety of products (cannabis-based, food, beverages, marinades, extracts, topical applications, etc.) to improve the scent or flavor, as well as enhance the overall experience. They’re used in the development of food flavorings, incense, cosmetic products, organic gardening products, household cleaners, natural medicines, perfumes, and more.
In addition to unique aromas, terpenes play an equally important role in influencing the way we taste, smell, and feel when a plant, herb, or fruit is consumed. This happens because terpenes interact synergistically with other botanical compounds and human hormones to create a phenomenon referred to as the “entourage effect” that magnifies the benefits of the plant’s individual components.
Studies are showing that terpenes can be effective in the treatment of pain, inflammation, depression, insomnia, anxiety, addiction, epilepsy, cancer, fungal and bacterial infections, and more.
Nearly all of the major terpenes in cannabis are either analgesic (anti-pain) or anti-inflammatory.
