Description
Sphagnum Peat Moss
Professional as well as amateur gardeners use Sphagnum Peat Moss when they are looking to build their own soils.
Sphagnum moss is a primitive type of swamp plant, growing on the swampy soils.
Peat moss, is slightly different as it is the above that has sunk into the swamp and is decaying.
This substrate adds a huge amount of structure to growing mediums as well as water retention. When added to substrates it will helps aerate the mixture as well as facilitate much better root zone development.
When using this additive, it is advised to add Calcitic Lime. The pH of this additive is around 4, therefore the use of lime will bring the pH down as well as adding much needed calcium.
