Why you should be using Hemp Seeds

Cannabis continually wows us with its applications and uses in our lives. Be that for the spirit, mind or body. One of the most interesting is that of the health benefits linked to hemp seeds.

For one the seeds themselves are surprisingly nutritious. The seeds themselves contain 30% fat, and being rich in 2 essential fatty acids. They are also ridiculously high in protein with 25% of their calories being protein. Not to mention that they are a great source of vitamins and minerals.

Hemp seeds have also been shown to reduce risk of heart disease. This is because eating these seeds provides your body with arginine and gamma-linolenic acid, which reduce the chance of heart disease.

Hemp seeds are also a great source of fiber, which aids digestion. Hemp seeds contain high amounts of both soluble and insoluble fiber. However you need to consume the seeds with the shells to get the fiber.

The best part is that they can be eaten raw, cooked or even toasted. If you de-shell and cook the seed they are super tasty with a almost nutty flavour. I personally recommend grinding up some lightly toasted seeds and adding them to a smoothie! So add these seeds to your diet, there is no reason not to.
